Army, Navy and Air Chief in United States

As Chief of Army Staff General Moeen U. Ahmed’s visit draws near, some more information is beginning to emerge. He will be accompanied by the Air Chief, Air Marshal S M Ziaur Rahman and, much more significantly, Lt. Gen. Masududdin Chowdhury. Navy Chief Vice Admiral Sarwar Jahan Nizam was also in Washington DC last week.

Also currently in the United States is Dr. Yunus, scheduled to speak all next week in universities across the US, notably Harvard and Pepperdine University.

The Eid festival serves very nicely as a self-imposed news censorship by Bangladesh’s media outlets, except for BDnews. There are signs that the people currently in power are looking to change the composition of the government soon, to give themselves a more direct line to state power, and also to start preparing the stage for the next general election, which, if allowed to be held, they must win at all cost; if only to ensure their survival.

Let us see what time brings.

If I had been in the event at Harvard I would have asked Gen. Moeen one question who is his boss, Bun King Moon of UNO or Iajuddin, president of government of republic of Bangladesh. If he had no personal interest or ambition, how could he intervene on 1/11 just considering consequence of not heeding to UNO! He clearly violated the service rule and constitution forcing his boss to read the drafted speech for 1/11 change. Other logic of the intervention was that there would have a civil war if there had been the scheduled 22/1 /07 election. This is just a mere guess or excuse. BTW, there was a such electioin on February 1996 but there were no civil war. Even if there were a situation of chaos and clash at the level near civil war or civil war and if government had assigned them the peace keeping job to prevent or quel the civil war, hadn’t they had the ability to do that as they have been doing such good jobs in the other countries.

Whatever they did was something pre-emptive and the outcome of ill judgment and motive. And though they say they have no significant role in running the government and they have just auxillary role is a blatant lie. Moreover, they have been failing to handle the emergent problems as astutely as people expecting except some listing and busting of corrupt politicians.

    Thanks.

Thank you, Saif bhai. It’s not a good feeling to make predictions you half hope are wrong, for the sake of everybody concerned. Thank you for visiting my blog; please feel free to share and criticize at will.

You bring up some very good points, bitterboy. The events of January 11th were, to my mind, neither critically necessary, nor crucial to the survival of our country. I hope that the men and women involved will one day have to face reckoning for the questions you raised.

I wish you could explain the signs please. did anybody transcribe his public speeches.

By default I dont beleive that this CTmG has sold the country down the river any more than the previous governments, with their own shady dealing, ishtupidity and vice…. but i’m open eared.

Even in countries with a mature media, like the UK, the christmas break is full of prerecorded content and the media pretty much go to sleep.

I’m wondering why General Moinuddin Ahmed gets an abbreviative ‘U’, whereas Dr Fakhrudin’s name is not so desecrated. Is Uddin so hard to pronounce?

I think General ‘M’ has a far more conspiratorial and cat stroking ring to it than Moeen ‘you’ Ahmed.

This is a really late reply to this thread that came out in Oct. I think Tacit is being slightly paranoid and was misinformed. Gen. Moeen had no scheduled visit to washington during that time. He did have one for India and Pakistan during that time but to my knowledge that did not fall through due. The Air chief had a week long visit to the US and returned before Eid-ul-Fitr. The occassion was the Global Air Chief’s conference held once every 4 years in Washington, which was attended by the air chiefs of 104 countries. I’m not certain of the whereabouts of the Navy chief but I can say with full conviction there wasn’t any coordinated visit to the US at all. So guys, go easy on the conspiracy theory…if not then at least care to verify your info. Thanks.

So Moeen did not come to the US, did not try to gatecrash Harvard, did not have his Trust Bank loan scandal exposed, and did not attend several meetings of Jago Bangladesh, did not give an interview to VOA’s Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury? All my paranoia?
